Belinda Shine
Belinda Shine graduated from Curtin University with a Bachelor of Social Work in 1999.
Her strong sense of social justice and commitment to the right of all humans to be treated with dignity and respect fuelled her desire to undertake this degree.
From as early as Belinda’s final social work practicum, Social Work in Catholic Schools, she developed a strong passion for and interest in counselling work with children. Since then, the desire to help children has been an ongoing motivation for all that she does.
Belinda was an employee of Centrecare Inc for eight years and during this time she worked across many of the services offered at this agency. Belinda has worked in outreach services, has had significant involvement in the area of family and domestic violence and fulfilled numerous and varied roles. These include group facilitation (both with victims - women and children) and perpetrators of domestic violence. For several years Belinda took on the role of specialist Domestic Violence Service – Child Counsellor, and after finishing in this role provided clinical supervision to her successor in the role. Belinda was integral to the development of child counselling processes while at Centrecare. The refurbishment of the children’s therapy room was a project for which Belinda took primary responsibility.
Belinda has provided clinical supervision for over six years.
This is an area of professional practice for which she has enthusiasm and ongoing interest.
Belinda recently completed a course provided by Play Therapy Australia resulting in a Post Graduate Certificate of Clinical Play Therapy, as well as the Certificate in Play Therapy Skills.
Belinda is a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) as well as member of the Austral/Asia Pacific Play Therapy Association, and the American Association of Play Therapy.
Day, evening and weekend appointments are offered and appointments are usually available within the week.
Belinda has a strong commitment to the belief that early intervention gives us hope for a brighter future for all.
